If senior Bill D'Amico moves away from Youngstown after graduation, it will mean saying goodbye to more than one family.

D'Amico said he would like to move away but doesn't know what's in store for him when he leaves Youngstown State University.

"I'm very family oriented, and it would obviously be very hard for me to move away, but

I'll just have to see where the road will lead me," D'Amico said.

D'Amico's mother, Joyce D'Amico, said she will be very proud of her son on graduation day.

"It's more fun now that Bill's an adult and not a kid because I'm able to relate to him better," Joyce said.

When asked how she might feel if her son left after graduation, Joyce said she would have mixed emotions.

"I've always wanted to move, but I never had the chance to, so I would want Bill to have the opportunity to move and get a taste of what it's like to live somewhere else. I would miss him, though," she said.

D'Amico hasn't been a commuter student, so he said moving away would be easier now than it would have been four years ago.

"Not living at home for four years was like small baby steps toward moving away," he said. "Besides, wherever I go, I'll only be a plane ride away."

D'Amico said the best experience he's had at YSU was being in Alpha Phi Delta fraternity, where he served as president for a year.

"Living in the Alpha Phi Delta house and not being a commuter student has really made me feel so much more connected to YSU. The fraternity experience definitely helped me do all of this, hands down," he said.

Joyce said D'Amico loves YSU, and his experience at YSU has been more of an on-campus and non-commuter experience.

"I know that Bill believes that to really get the most out of any college, you need to join a campus organization and get involved. If you do this, you'll make the most out of your college experience and get to know more about YSU like he did," Joyce said.

Upon being asked what he plans to do with his degree, D'Amico laughed, saying he "just hopes to be happy with a rewarding job."

D'Amico doesn't want to wake up every morning after graduation hating his job.

"I want to be one of those people who is happy doing what they do every single day," said the business administration-marketing management major.
