The Youngstown State University Board of Trustees appointed area resident Dr. Diane Bitonte Miladore to serve on the Northeast Ohio Universities College of Medicine Board of Trustees.

YSU President David Sweet said Bitonte Miladore, a YSU trustee, was appointed because among other things she is a physician and an alum of the university and NEOUCOM.

"I am humbled and truly honored to have been nominated and then selected by my colleagues on the YSU board to represent them at NEOUCOM," Bitonte Miladore said in a press release.

The NEOUCOM board acts in the same way as the YSU Board of Trustees. Members are appointed by universities rather than the governor.

The University of Akron and Kent State University also have three represenatatives on the board. Representatives include the university president and representatives from the board of trustees and community.

The YSU community member is Tom Cavalier, president and CEO of Butler Wick.

Bitonte Miladore is finishing out the term of H.S. Wong and will serve until 2009. NEOUCOM board members typically serve for six years.

She has been a member of the YSU Board of Trustees since May 2005 and has also been active around campus. She is a member of the President's Council, Penguin Club, Board of Trustees Housing Corp. and the College of Health and Human Services Board of Visitors.
