Youngstown State University students will see an increase in parking fines beginning July 1.
Daniel O'Connell, director of Support Services, said the new fines were normal at most colleges, and that YSU's would still be the lowest around.
"If the fine isn't substantial enough, you might be likely to abuse it," he said.

Youngstown State University is still alive and kickin' as it continues to celebrate its 100th birthday with a long list of events, though some students are skeptical about whether it can actually be called a centennial.
The giant banner on Stambaugh Stadium are a dead giveaway that the celebration is underway, senior Britta Snowberger said.

As part of a celebration to mark Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the Office of Student Diversity will host an annual breakfast today in the Chestnut Room.
Sophomore Shalisa Dunn plans to attend.
"I feel that he was a big part of today's society. He was very important in my life because I am an African-American," Dunn said.

Telecommunications students at Youngstown State University are planning to get The WYRE, a student-run online podcasting system, up and running in one to two weeks.
Originally started about two years ago as an online radio station, The WYRE, was revisited again by students interested in expanding the initial premise to include all types of information.

The 2008 Game of Hope Charity Classic, in partnership for its fourth year with Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity, will take place Saturday at Youngstown State University, and Ohio Congressman Tim Ryan and Youngstown Mayor Jay Williams will be among the special guests attending.
